Valve has confirmed that the previously delayed Steam Machine PC and Steam Frame VR headset are set to launch this summer. In a blog post published on Thursday, the company stated, "We're excited for players to try your titles on the new Steam hardware once they launch this summer."
When Valve first announced the Steam Machine and Steam Frame alongside the new Steam Controller late last year, it planned to start shipping in early 2026. However, in February, the company revealed that ongoing memory and storage shortages had forced it to revise its pricing and shipping plans. In March, Valve clarified that it would be shipping all three products this year, although it initially mentioned a 2026 release in the blog, which was later removed.
The Steam Controller was released separately and became available for purchase in early May. For the Steam Machine and Steam Frame, while no specific date has been provided, the mention of summer narrows down the timeline for their eventual release.
Ahead of the actual launch, Valve is redesigning the Steam store and sharing information about verified programs for the hardware to help developers prepare their games. If a game is verified for the Steam Machine or Steam Frame, it indicates that the game should run well without any user modifications.
The requirements for a game to be verified on the Steam Machine are nearly identical to those for the Steam Deck, and given that the Machine is approximately six times more powerful, it is expected that many more games will be verified for it. For the Steam Frame, the verified badge will indicate games that perform well when played natively on the headset, as opposed to those that work well when streamed.
Now, users are left waiting for Valve to announce the exact release dates for the Steam Machine and Steam Frame, as well as pricing information, especially following the recent price hikes for the Steam Deck.
